Behind the Scenes: Getting Ready for PLLAY's First Games

CompanyMarch 13, 2026 · PLLAY Team

Picking the first titles to launch with is less about which games are popular and more about which ones we can resolve correctly, every time.

It's tempting to launch a prediction feature on whatever game has the biggest audience. We're picking differently: the first titles need outcomes that are clear and verifiable — a match result, a round win, a moment that isn't ambiguous — because a pool that can't be resolved cleanly isn't a good first impression for anyone.

That's a narrower list than "popular esports titles" might suggest. A lot of the early work has been less about building flashy prediction types and more about making sure the boring part — figuring out, reliably, what actually happened — works every single time before anything else gets built on top of it.

We're also being deliberate about starting with a small number of creators per title rather than opening broadly. It's easier to fix what's wrong with five creators watching closely than with five hundred.

None of this is exciting to announce on its own, but it's the part that determines whether the exciting parts — fast launches, live settlement, an audience that trusts the outcome — actually hold up once real people are using it.
