What "Beta" Means for PLLAY
PLLAY's first launch runs on credits, not cash — and that's a deliberate choice, not a placeholder.
When PLLAY opens to its first creators and fans this spring, predictions will settle in credits, not real money. That's not a technical limitation we're working around — it's the actual plan for this phase.
Credits let us prove out the mechanics that matter — does skill-weighting work as intended, does settlement resolve correctly and quickly, do fraud and dispute handling catch the cases they're supposed to — without the added complexity and risk of real-money rails running underneath a system that's still being tested.
Whether and when real money enters the picture is a separate decision from getting the core product right, and we're treating it that way on purpose: get the mechanics right first, in an environment with lower stakes, before deciding what a real-money version needs to look like.
It also means the first version of PLLAY is a genuine beta in the plain sense of the word — a smaller, closely-watched test, not a soft-launched full product. We'd rather be upfront about that than dress it up as more than it is.
